We are often asked about our policies toward children and pets.
Children
Strawberry Patch
Children are always welcome. However, for those under the age of 10, we prefer that the ratio of one adult per one child be observed.
Raspberry and Blackberry patches
Please do not bring children under the age of 12 to pick blackberries. Most of our blackberries have very sharp long thorns that make picking them somewhat treacherous. This is for their safety.
Blueberry Patch
Please don't bring small children to the blueberry patch. We have been seeing a lot of damage caused by children picking whole clusters of ripe and unripe berries and then throwing away all the green ones just to get one ripe berry.
Pets
There are no pets allowed. Even though we try to maintain a somewhat park-like feel at Silkey Gardens, we are a fruit farm and not suited for pets.
