For 2010, apples are not available due to an early season
frost. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but look
forward to seeing you in 2011.
Much of what we do here at Silkey Gardens is inspired by what we estimate to be a 100 years old apple tree. As far as we can tell, this is a unique variety of apple which we have named Leesha. In 2005, we grafted several trees from both our Leesha and another old tree we hope to identify when it starts to produce. At this time, we also planted four established varieties of apples: Acey Mac, Wealthy, Honey Crisp and Zestar. The Leesha and Zestar start to ripen in mid-to late August and are followed by the Acey Mac and Wealthy. We are hoping that 2010 will also see the maturing of our Honey Crisp trees, which would then be our latest variety, ripening in mid to late September.
